     Mary Alves started her career with Internal Revenue Service; which gave her invaluable work experience. During her government career, she graduated to several positions including; and not limited to auditor, On-the-Job instructor, and Acting Manager of an audit group. The advancement made her responsible for 10-15 auditors. She also taught classroom instruction for new employees.

After 10 years of service, she decided to move on to public accounting firms; which gave her additional expertise in working with various types of books and records of different types of entities from the “other side of the desk”. In addition, she was responsible for representing clients before the taxing authorities. She handled various types of audits and collection issues from individuals to corporations, non-profits, and trusts.

Mary was awarded her Enrolled Agent’s license in 1981 and embarked in a successful private practice in 1990. Enrolled Agents specialize in taxation and are federally licensed which allows them to practice in all 50 states. Throughout the year, they advise, represent, and prepare tax returns for various types of individuals and businesses.
